The Maritime Foundation initiated a Memorial Book for ‘Those Lost at Sea with No Known Grave’, which is kept in the Mariners’ Chapel at All Hallows by The Tower to record their names and circumstances of their deaths.
In 2013 the foundation commission a short film to profile the project and raise money to install the book in various different locations. After meeting with the trustees of the foundation a script was drafted and a day of shooting was booked at the Mariners’ Chapel in London. This day incorporated interviews with both Anthony Harvey ( Secretary of the Maritime Foundation ) and the Revd Bertrand Olivier.
A selection of different voices were chosen to read a selection of names from the book over the opening graphic. The names were specially chosen to show the variety of names entered in the memorial book. The rest of the footage and interviews were then edited as a short film.
The finished film was then shown at the annual Service of Remembrance for relatives of those lost at sea. A run of DVDs to be sent out to potential benefactors were also commissioned.
