Lancaster is a remarkable feature documentary that tells the story of the iconic WW2 bomber through the words of the last surviving crew members, re-mastered archive material and extraordinary aerial footage.
Copia was commissioned to produce the animated graphics and provide some footage for this film. At one point a camera crew was positioned ten stories high, on top of the Intercontinental hotel, to capture a Lancaster as it flew across the London skyline.
The brief for the graphics was to draw and animated them as if they had been done in 1944. This was done through drawing the images digitally and then applying effects and filters to replicate an original film animation.
