In a historic breakthrough, a bouncing baby boy became the first child to be born in the UK after his mother was transplanted with a womb from a deceased donor.

The trial was initiated and funded by the charity, Womb Transplant UK and Copia Productions were proud to be part of the team that helped break the story to the international press.

Led by Neil Huband, the charity’s management communications consultant, Andy Jones and Rob White from Copia Productions produced film and video content to cover the event. This involved filming key interviews with the parents and clinicians involved and editing a suite of films which were distributed to national media outlets.

The story of baby Hugo broke on the 24 February, 2026 and made headlines across television news, print media and digital press. Much of the content we produced went viral across broadcast and social media.

By working closely with the charity and approaching the interviews with sensitivity we were able to help protect the parent’s privacy and yet at the same time ensure the project gained as much publicity as possible.

The footage we produced was used across national press and media.
